I truly cannot believe it, but we won our appeal. We are yet to have our official written confirmation (which makes me nervous). I found out by phone, rushed out and bought champagne and then started thinking i had made it up, so had to call them again!!! They must have thought I was insane.
I am extremely curious to find out particularly why we won. Does anyone know whether this will be explained in the letter?
The appeal experience was not a pleasant one and the admissions person was curt, rude and in my opinion, unprofessional.
None of this matters, of course.

well done. The letter should give some detail on why you won the case, because the same letter goes to the school and the LA who need to know why they lost the case apart from being rude!

It was an infant class size appeal for YR. I worked very hard on my appeal; it became my full time job!!! I don't know what to do with myself now!

My only piece of advice is that which a friend of mine who lost theirs last year told me: leave no stone unturned. This is your one chance. Do whatever you think it will take to win.
It is an emotional situation and i am not ashamed to say that i could not hold back my tears.
Whatever the outcome you will know you did all that you could.
When we walked out of our appeal we were, in our heads, 99.9% we would never win it. It seemed so bleak. I wish i could give more information as to how i did.

Please do let me know, my dd ( summer born) did not get into our two designated school within a stones throw away last year, and now my dd no 2 (summer born) has not got into our 2 designated schools or the school my first daughter has been sent to. dont no how i can get 2 children just 4years and just 5years to different schools 3 miles and drop them off on time and pick them up on time.

I felt just like you a few weeks ago, as I too found out over the phone that we won our appeal for a secondary school and was desparate for the letter to come afterwards. Partly because I just really needed to see in in black and white, and partly because I really wasn't sure which part of our case (it was huge) was the bit that won it for us.

I found the letter to be a slight anti climax tbh, because it really didn't give much information about why we won. It was fairly long, but much of it said 'the panel took on board your concerns about xxx and yyy' and 'the panel noted the evidence you provided from aaa and bbb and ccc' If that makes sense!

Our case was quite complicated so I won't go into all the details but I really didn't fell like I knew much more about what the panel were thinking after I read the letter than I did when we left the hearing. It basically just told us that our appeal had been 'allowed', rather than using the term 'won'.

But, it's irrelevant now looking back on it, we won, and so did you! Not much else matters. Well done again!

Fluffycloud52 - i face this next year - its rubbish!, I have two daughters one will be in YR and one in Y2 - can you use breakfast and after school club??? Thats my plan as mine are 3 miles apart too.
