Early Years Funding for first term of Reception (private school)?

My DS is starting in Reception at a private school in September. I know that the Nursery in the school is Early Years funding registered.

Having just read the County Council leaflet on Early Years funding in connection with my younger DD, I've noticed that it says children are eligible for funding from the term after they turn 3 until they start at a state primary or the term after they turn 5.

My DS turns 5 in the first term is it at school - does this mean I'm entitled to Early Years funding for my first term?

I guess it depends on the school and I will ask them but I wondered if anyone else had experience of this.

Yes, I'm sure this is reasonably common in private schools - I've certainly heard of a few where you can continue to claim for the first term (or even more depending on your DCs birthday) of YR.

Yes this certainly has happened to us in the past. Your prep school should provide you with the relevant paperwork to submit to the local authority in the first term and you will get discounted fees. It will be claimed from the local authority where the school is sited, not where u live ( if there's a difference, ifswim.)

It depends on the school but we were able to have reduced fees for the first two terms of reception because of early years funding.

It depends entirely on whether the school is Ofsted inspected or not. My DD school is so we would have received funding for her first 2 terms at private school. DS's school isn't and so we didn't. Check with the school's finance office.
