Anybody's child start school knowing nobody?

I'm starting to worry about DD starting school in September. We've gone against the grain and are the only ones not sending our child to the feeder school from nursery (long story as to why). The thing I'm worrying most about is that she obviously wont know anybody. She's really happy, sociable and bright and I'm hoping that follows her to the new school rather than completely knocks her confidence Sad

I need some positive stories to make me realise I'm not going to ruin DD's life!

I will come across this 'issue' in Sept 12 - dd will be joining Y4. I'm dreading it but take onboard the advice given. We've already had upset at the thought of it and there's still a good long way to go Sad.
I'm hanging onto the hoope that she too will mix easily as she is sociable.

My DD started reception (some 5 years ago now) not knowing anyone in her class. most of the childrn in her class were in the same position. Within the first morning they had all made friends and DD came out laughing and joking and couldn't wait to return the next day. She's now in Y4 and is still great friends with her classmates.
