I'm not sure which school you mean;
Wimbledon Park?
Wimbledon Chase?

Its Wimbledon Park Primary.
Do you know anything about:
Albemarle
Sheringdale
St. Michaels
Riversdale?

Wimbledon Park Primary is a lovely school (ds used to be a pupil). Had disappointing OFSTED under last head, but new Headmaster seems to be making some v positive changes.

The catchment area is VERY small. This year there will be a bulge class in Reception - so 3 classes of 30 opposed to 2. Two new classrooms will be erected in the playground to accommodate the extra pupils.

Arrange to visit the school and see for yourself?

agree with Celia76. DD and DS are there now. Our road (Normanton Av) was on the edge of the catchment area last year. If it wasn't for the sibling rule, DD would not have got in. Catchment area is tiny.

Hi MaeMobley can't believe that your road was on the edge of the catchment area, how scary... you dont live far from the school at all! Where are all the other children directed to when they cant get a place into wimbledon park primary??

Garfield and the Priory most likely

FebreezeYourJeans · 16/06/2011 13:54

Priory was also massively over subscribed this year, despite taking a bulge reception class.

A lot of people on the grid go private because they're in a kind of no man's land when it comes to schools.

doozle · 16/06/2011 18:21

Saying that, they probably would get places at Riversdale but many not keen on it.

MaeMobley · 18/06/2011 11:46

I hear that Riversdale is also oversubscribed.

There is no private schools within walking distance either. I am ever so grateful that my two got in to WPPS.

Speaking of the grid and schools, I am thinking of purchasing a home there and starting a family, and was wondering if it makes a difference whether you are on the Wandsworth or the Merton side of the grid? Should that definitely affect my choice of homes? I can't seem to get a straight answer out of my estate agents!
