So we are planning to relocate and have bought a house in the carchment area for 2 really good schools. Hubby is living in the house whilst I finish the terms with my children 400 miles away.
I've applied for a place in year 4 for one child and have got it but we still haven't heard about our appeal for the year 7 place.
The problem is that the primary school want my daughter to start after half term which is impossible.
What is the likihood of them holding the place at least until I know what is happening with my eldest childs school place ?

Apart from your family being split, which isn't ideal, is there any other reason why she cannot start after half-term? It's only 6 weeks. Don't know what the legal position is though.

it may well be different in different areas, but we are in the process of applying for schools due to relocation, and have been told that if we not able to take up a place immediately that it is offered, it will go to the next person on the waiting list.

Well yes the splitting of the family is what makes it impossible I think, if she went down with her dad during the week she'd be in a new school, new area and alone with dad who's working full time so not ideal.
