comprehensions

Ds is in year 2 and has started bringing comprehension homework home in lieu of spellings. I am a little concerned as he really does not seem to be able to complete these without assistance. I am guessing that these are practice for SATS.
Any tips on how to help him appreciated.

Has he not done his SATS? Dd2 did them last week with a couple left over for this week.

I don't think he has done comprehension sats yet. Has done some numeracy ones though.
