Best state primary schools in Leicester?

We'll be moving to Leicester next fall and are trying to find out which primary schools are best. We don't know the area at all and would really appreciate your help.
Any tips on the best areas to live in or schools for our children? My boy would be starting year 2.

Thank you!

I have a friend with children at Dovelands which is supposed to be good. She said that secondary choices in Leicester are not great though. Her son is going to a school in Market Bosworth from September. Apparently lots of Dovelands pupils go on there, and it is about 15 miles from where they live.

We are out in the county and are lucky enough to have several outstanding state primaries here.Gaddesby Primary,Frisby C of E and Rearsby Cof E are all excellent,Gaddesby in particular was classed as Outstanding. The only thing is,they are becoming oversubscribed, with lots of people from out of catchment trying to get their children in.Also a lot of parents have pulled their children out of private primaries to send them to these schools.

Agree with GRW about secondaries though.Rushey Mead is very good, but it is very difficult to get into now.
