State infant schools in/nr Radlett

It seems that the only state infants is St Johns (which will be our first choice). What are the nearest alternatives and are they any good??

Also, I don't really like the look of Fairfield Juniors so will seriously consider moving to the private sector at this point. Which are the best options???

Thanks!

Newberries is excellent and highly over subscribed and I think that Radlett children also go to St Nicholas in Elstree. Radlett prep and Manor Lodge are the private schools of choice around Radlett although a lot of Radlett children are at Hertsmere which is the outstanding local Jewish state school on the same site as Radlett Prep. Alternatives are also Habs, Edgegrove or Aldenham for private.

It depends where in Radlett you are?

Newberries has an infant and junior bit, whereas St John's children tend to go to Fairfield (I went there and I'm ok!). There are primary schools in Shenley, London Colney, Park Street etc - depends which side you live.

Thanks both. We live the Park st end - well sort of where all the shops end on the main high street in Radlett (the new lingerie shop/launderette/Rocket children clothes shop).

Will look into St Nicholas. I've already looked at Manor Lodge and will take a look at Radlett prep as our private school back ups.

We are not Jewish (unusually for Radlett!!!!) so not sure if Hertsmere is an option TBH.

I understand Habs, Edgegrove an Aldenham are rather expensive??

Didn't mean to offend about Fairfield!!!! I've just being going on the Ofsted reports :)

Haha - no offence taken. It wasn't my parents' first choice either, and goodness knows what it's like these days - I was there nearly 20 years ago! Manor Lodge would be an ok drive from you if you went up Harper Lane & along by M25, but going up lanes through Shenley is a nightmare at school time.

I can't comment on caomparitive fees, but know a family who weren't happy with St Christopher's,, moved all 3 children to Edge Grove and were really happy.
