Workbook on Florida

My parents are very kindly taking us on holiday to Florida for the 2nd time, unfortunately this does mean the kids will miss a week of school, which has been cleared by school.

Last time we did this I made them both a workbook to complete with a page per day that included some pages about the history and geography of the state and some pages where they just had to write a bit about what they'd been up to.

So having done it once I'm out of inspiration on what to include this time. Anyone got any tips or ideas I can steal or websites you'd recommend for this kind of thing? DS is Y6 and DD Y4.

Do it again. See how much they remember Wink

Are you doing Disney? Don't laugh but there are some great educational things you can do around Epcot and animal kingdom - not necessarily about Florida but still learning opportunities..

Pointydog - thanks! Don't tempt me! Smile I swear I put hours into these things, have the joy of making the kids complete them, and then the teachers barely look at them!

scrappy - not this time, we're on the Gulf coast and I've already found a couple of Museums and Nature reserve that look good, although I'm sure we'll manage to squeeze in Busch Gardens!

Embrace technology & let them make video diaries Grin

I was going to suggest a diary and then you can make it as complex as each child needs. Epcot is fabulous for all sorts of academic stuff. We visited kennedy space centre and made dd draw a space shuttle & try astronaut food.
Sopping is good for maths skills - all those currency conversions! Not sure how to fit in Busch Gardens but should be great. I am so jealous I want to go back

Oh, Oh check out the Busch Gardens website - they do family sleepovers Grin Its Edyoucayshonal (honest).

We went to a good aquarium near sarasota which concentrated on conservation of Florida marine life..
Very Envy!
