Primary admissions again, sorry !

We are appealing against the decision that we weren't offered our first choice primary. Cat in hells chance of winning but feel I must. Question is will we still get to keep the school place we have been offered as second choice if we lose appeal ? Have been bigging school up to dd who is now very excited about going. They cant withdraw the place because we have appealed can they ?

No. You are safe in keeping the place you have accepted.

no you keep the one thats offered if you accept it - which you should incase you end up with none and get allocated one further if you lose!

If you're telling dd which school she's going too and she's excited I really wouldn't bother appealing if it's futile
save yourself the stress
if you do get her in then she 'll be confused

Just to confirm that they cannot withdraw the offered place because you are appealing for another school. Do accept the offered place if you haven't already done so.

The letter said unless they hear otherwise by the 29th of April I will be given my second preference. Should I have rung and accepted ? I didn't see that I should on the letter.It basically said this is what we are giving you and you have to tell us if you don't like it. Will ring tomorrow and check, hope I havent messed up.

That's unusual and suggests you don't have to do anything to accept the place. You haven't messed up in any case. Even if you were supposed to accept and have missed the first deadline they have to write to you again and give you more time to accept.

Rang admissions and guy reassured me I haven't shot myself in the foot and unless I reject the offer in writing I have automatically accepted the place by saying nothing! Strange how the simplest of things differ so much across the different LEAs!
