Is there an online copy of the Disability Rights Commission Code of Practice for schools?

Would anybody have a link? It's dd's Annual Review soon and school and I want the LEA to fund some extra support to enable dd to access the residential trip next year.HT said he had never been successful so I am hoping there is something in there that would help me give the LEA a nudge.

Not sure about disability rights commission code of practice but i would try asking the school about their charging policy and how they ensure full access for all pupils for such visits. Between the school and the LA they should be funding the support necessary for your DD to access the residential trip.

Dd's statement would give twenty hours of support I imagine that school would fund, but 20 hours support over the course of three or four days is only a small portion of the actual hours.I will of course be paying the same as every other parent.I was hoping to get something in the statement as it needs amending anyway so that it is there for not only the coming residential but other residentials as she progresses through school.

I think you need to look at the DDA, the issue is that schools should be seen to be planning that the trips are accessible for all and shouldn't be refusing a child a place without justification - but it isn't cut and dried.

My DD has Down Syndrome and school support her and other children with SEN to go on the residential trips with additional support depending on the needs of the individual child - i imagine in our case any additional cost (if the LSA can't do double duty as a member of staff as it were, it depends on the needs of the child of course) are born by the school, but i don't honestly know.
