My daughter will be 5 in July and is in reception class. Feel a bit of a bad parent for not knowing roughly where she should be on this profile at the end of the year!
Some of the other parents are doing extra work with their little ones !!! Had parents evening and said she was doing well and happy. Never felt like this with other 2 older children!!

6 is fine, anything above a bonus. Other than that, don't worry!

Our dd's school had a meeting about it. They said that you couldn't help them by doing extra work as they have been assessing them all year for it. They also said that 6 was good and anything more is brilliant. They said not to stress about it too - so we aren't!
Should we be?

6 means that they are meeting their targets.

coccyx · 30/04/2011 04:36

thank you. Does it factor in anything for age. ? My DD seems so much younger than her friends who are going to be turning 6 in Sept.
No I won't worry, I would hope I would have heard from her teacher by now if there was a problem.

No it isn't age standardised

coccyx · 30/04/2011 17:09

That does surprise me, but not concern me. I refuse to be drawn into the playground parent politics!!
Soon be summer holidays

Extra work? Seriously? Shock

They are 5. Surely it is about finding out where they are at and seeing how they can be supported as they move into Year 1 and beyond.

I don't think anyones Oxbridge chances are determined by their EYFS scores. Or at least I hope they aren't or my 3 are in trouble...
