Birmingham City Council - Reception 2011. Have the letters gone out?!

Was just wondering (or should I say obsessing about) if the letters have gone out. A few people have heard, but I have not received a letter or email for DD. I didn't think the letters were being sent out until 26 April - I have been sent into a state of panic now

Our letter came today. Have been offered a place at our third choice school. Is it worth while contacting our first choice school in case the places offered for there aren't all taken? Any advice gratefully received.

Do you come under Birmingham City Council and did you also receive an email? I think it would be worth contacting your first choice and asking to be put on the waiting list, as you say not all the places offered will be taken up (fingers crossed for you)

We do come under Birmingham and haven't received an email. I was suprised to receive the letter today, as you said, they were't supposed to be posted until the 26th and I was under the impression that we would hear by email first. Wish I hadn't heard today - won't be able to enjoy Easter or the bank holiday now. Roll on Tuesday so I can hit the phones!

they've posted them early where we are, second class. Got it today :o first choice (sibling).

No point in contacting schools direct as they have no say at all. You will automatically be put on the schools waiting list if it was above the choice you have been allocated, you can phone Birmingham LEA for updates on where you are on the waiting list but be aware that they change a lot going up and down. Was in the same position as you last year and we went from 3rd on the waiting list to 10th within a matter of weeks. Lots of luck.
