ds1 has been offered a place at a small montessori school here. there will be 8 children per year, and mixed classes.
so he will be in the year2/year3 class, 16 pupils in total

how do you find it?
what are the downsides of a very small school? and of course the upsides..
are you happy or would you change it?

my DDs go to a small school which is brilliant with about 50 pupils, having moved from another very small school which I was dissatisfied with.My boys went to a large school with 350 pupilsIt all depends on the other kids, the teachers, the parents and the head
Plus side is that they get to do a lot more stuff because the numbers are so much more manageable , it is easy to do trips , all get involved in teams ,speaking parts in plays etc.
Another good point is that all the teachers really know all the children whether they teach them or not
Bad point is that there may not be someone your DC gels with, pushy parents and pushy kids can dominate if not firmly controlled by the head.If it's in a small village it can all get a bi personal.

it's in a large town, although that's not necessarily a plus because it will make it harder i think for playdates and stuff as the kids won't all come from the same area...
