Reception Admission - Accepting school admission & Appeal

What?s the impact of accepting the given school on Appeal? As we don?t want to put our child for the allocated school & but him to go to the one from 6 schools from the preference & we are planning to appeal for each of the school? We have not being allocated any school from our 6 preference...
If we accept the school would it have any implication son the decision of Appeal?
Thanks, your help huge appreciated.

As I understand it, accepting the offered school will help your appeal.

I think from what pr47 has said before, refusing it suggests you are trying to blackmail the LA "look, we don't have any school to send him to" etc.

Accepting the school place won't affect the outcome of your appeal.

If you refuse the place you've been allocated, you need to be very careful about how you convey that at appeal. People often believe that if they say to the panel "we've refused the place at Allocated School so now you have to give us a place at Preferred School", they will win on that basis. They won't. The panel will decide the appeal on its merits and won't (I trust) be petty or be swayed by how much they like or dislike you, but panels will dislike anything that feels like pressurising or blackmail. So, if you appear to be pressuring or blackmailing the panel, they may be less likely to give you the benefit of any doubt, because they don't want you or anyone else thinking that the way to get into a school is to refuse all other offers into someone capitulates.

You can join waiting lists and appeal for any school you like - not just the ones you named on your application form.

... until someone capitulates.

Agree with Panelmember and Clary. If you reject the offered place the panel may think you are trying to blackmail them into admitting your child which certainly won't help your appeal. Accepting the place won't have any effect on the outcome. I would always recommend accepting it so that you have a backup if all else fails.
