Touch Typing Programmes

Anyone know a good touch typing teaching programme suitable for a 7-year old (with the spelling abilities and literacy skills of a much older child, but the physical skills of a younger child....)?

isn't there one on the BBC website? If you look at their childrens part, you should be able to find it.

Hi rabbitstew

This may sound insane - but our little ones (now 6 & 8) started touch typing with Spongebob Squarepants.

DVD game still available on amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/SpongeBob-Squarepants-Typing-Learning-System/dp/B000EGMAK8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1302278063&sr=8-1

The BBC one is good. My son also uses 'Nessy Fingers' which is also good but not free like the BBC one,

Maybe 7 is too young, but Burning Cargo is a different typing game. It features a full touch typing course - not just training. It aims to keep you motivated for learning with strategy and adventure gameplay - and an exiting story.

Check it out at www.burningcargo.com

ds is working his way through Mavis Beacon - you put in your age, and do a 'test' set and the programme then gives you appropriate targets etc - lots of games as well as lessons - he's enjoying it and getting pretty fast

he worked his way through the bbc dancemat pretty quickly and there wasn't enough there to keep him motivated

we've got it for a mac, but there are pc versions as well
