Hello can anybody help me? We are thinking of moving to Bishop's Stortford. I have 2 children aged 3 and 8. I would like any advice on schooling there, and to know if this would be a good place to live. thank you

Hi, apologies if this turns out to be a red herring, but I have heard lovely things about Manuden Primary, which is v close to Stortford

I think all the schools in Stortford and surrounding villages are pretty good. I think you need to see which one has space for your 8 year old and then work from there. See if the ones with a space use siblings or catchment for priority as this will affect if your 3 year old gets a place. If you find a place for the 8 year old with catchment as priority, then you need to move into it.

At secondary level living close to the schools makes a big difference I think. There seems to be a real shortage of places - this year I know a couple of children who didn't get any local school.
