temperatures rising, lots of sunshine in the afternoons...

Anyone else dusting off the summer uniform, or is it too early?

I'm still wearing my duvet coat.

VivaLeBeaver · 21/03/2011 17:37

I scraped ice off my car 2 days ago - where are you, Spain?

belgo · 21/03/2011 17:38

It's freezing in the mornings. Light jacket weather in the afternoon and lots of sun in Belgium.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 21/03/2011 17:39

After Easter is The Law Wink

LawrieMarlow · 21/03/2011 18:09

I can see DD being hopeful for summer dresses tbh.

MillsAndDoom · 21/03/2011 18:14

DD and I both had thick coats and tights on whilst lots of girls arrived in their gingham dresses and their Mums with lots of flesh on show

52Girls · 21/03/2011 18:15

Bit nippy for it in the mornings - I was thinking after Easter.

Mind you, when I was younger it was shorts for boys in the depths of winter!

OliPolly · 21/03/2011 18:15

I sent my DS to school with PE shorts instead of jogging bottoms - my excuse is that the bottoms have holes on the knees!

UniS · 21/03/2011 19:20

Yep, boy in shorts since friday. one girl in summer frock and tights today, another boy in shorts.

Shorts is good, means muddy knees are sorted with a bath and the shorts can be worn again tomorrow as they are pretty unscathed.
It was 15 or 16 degrees outdoors in shade here at lunchtime ( SW england) , I was doing Playground supervision in short sleeves.

RoadArt · 21/03/2011 21:36

Shorts Tshirt, swimming costumes, need of strong suncream, very warm but not as warm as it has been

Hulababy · 21/03/2011 21:41

DD's school has set times for when hey can change into each uniform, with a half term overlap either end.

Winter uniform is from September to May half term.
Summer uniform is from Easter to october half term.

So, summer dresses for DD from Easter. She changes into summer uniform as early as possible.

My ds2& 3 have not moved out of shorts all year! In snow they wear hats, gloves etc and walk in snow. Ds1 only moved to long trousers due to some school things where they all had to match. But still wears shorts when he can.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 22/03/2011 06:49

Not yet but really must get some new shorts for DS, he comes out of school looking like a sweaty beetroot.

Lizcat · 22/03/2011 07:30

Sign up at school yesterday summer uniform is authorised from Wednesday 23rd March.

MMQC · 22/03/2011 07:49

My reception daughter has insisted on a summer dress this morning. I have told her she will be cold. She won't listen. No doubt we'll be back to tights and winter dresses tomorrow ...

CheeseEnforcementAgency · 22/03/2011 08:24

After Easter here (oop north)

LawrieMarlow · 22/03/2011 08:28

There are some girls who wear summer dresses in the depths of winter, with tights. DD wearing grey pinafore today though.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 22/03/2011 12:29

After reading this thread this morning I've had a good ruammage around in DS wardrobe and managed to find a pair of school shorts that still fit him.

Really glad I've put them on him as its lovely here, even though I'm Up North too Smile

MADABOUTTHEBOY2000 · 22/03/2011 12:42

my DCs as soon as the sun came out were not worried about the clothes but keep moaning fill up the swimming poolConfused still bit nippy for that lol

Fayrazzled · 22/03/2011 12:53

I don't understand summer dresses with tights. That's not a good look is it? If you need tights you should be in winter uniform.

Zettelbox · 22/03/2011 18:57

It was beautiful today at home time. DS came out wearing his vest, shirt, jumper and coat on top though and refused shorts tomorrow. I think we may be waiting a few more weeks.

Madabout they sound like my DD. When it was -10 she kept asking me to fill up the paddling pool or to take her to the place where we went on holiday last year. I think she must have thought it would be warm then [smile

mrsbiscuits · 23/03/2011 07:34

DS1 doesn't like shorts so hsi uniform stays pretty much the same all year round :)

sandyballs · 23/03/2011 09:46

Not allowed summer uniform at our school until after Easter, then back into winter uniform after oct half term
