Rules about availability of school uniform.

They say that:

A school has to ensure school uniform is widely available in high street shops, retail outlets and from internet suppliers rather than just from one sole supplier.

What about if a school insists on logoed jumpers which are available from one school uniform shop or from the school office, but sold at the same price? Can they get around it because they are using 2 suppliers or not?

Until recently - like last term - school uniform for our kids' school was available SOLELY at the school office, and had to be ordered months in advance. It was a rediculous system as stuff was expensive and hard to get hold of. They have started selling it now in a local supplier, but the quality isn't as good and it's even more expensive! So we have one 'choice'. When you say 'they say that..' do you mean the school?

No, the government :)

The only place we can get ours is from @Your school Uniform@ on the internet. On the whole it is overpriced and poor quality.

They always have a few (brand new) items for sale in the school office.. I think you may be right that this is a way around the law.

Though I believe the law says that uniform cannot be enforced for primary age, but I for one am not about to make a laughing stock of my son.

My DS only has a logo on his sweathirt, I make him wear plain white polo shirts without the logo (that the school says he should have) and told them it was tough as we know he is only going to be there for the next term (due to our circumstances). I started a rebellion and now lots of kids in his class are not wearing the logo polo shirt stating the cost compared to TESCO

Logoed stuff is very expensive. the polo shirts with the logo on at dd's school look like they have been in the wash with the runny dark washing. we bought our sweatshirts second hand and lovely brigh polo shirts from Asda
