Can someone just confirm or not whether or not i have understood this correctly please?

My DS was born Aug 2009

So does he start preschool 15 hours per week (the free childcare we get) in Sep 2012? So he will have just turned 3.

Then school full time starts one year later when he turns 4?

very confused.....

depends where you are. but here (S Wales) you can start funded pre-school / nursery the term after the 3rd birthday and fulltime school the Sept after they turn 4.it isn't the same everywhere. so if it's the same where you are, then your calculations are correct.

It is the same here (England). You can defer entry into proper school until after Christmas or Easter in order to keep your place, but if you defer for entry into year one you might not get a place in the school you want.

we are in lincolnshire if that helps (north kestiven council)

thanks wishi, i think it's right, just not too sure.
