Year 2 problem

My son is 6 and sometimes gets into trouble at school. I can only assume that he causes some of it. We had a letter back from the school today regarding fighting and on asking him what happened, someone licked his hand he pushed them away and the fight began.

I have banned the DSi for the weekend (as this is only when he has it). He is sometimes silly, sometimes cheeky at home, but okay most of the time.

I am not sure how to proceed on this and how to punish him. I need him to understand that sometimes walking away from someone is the only way to prevent it escalating. However, I need some strategies to help him scope with what goes on at school.

Any ideas would be welcome.

You need to go into school and work out a behaviour plan with your ds's class teacher. The sanctions and rewards you decide on should overlap, so that ds knows that the behaviour rules apply everywhere.

If possible, take ds to this meeting, so he knows that you and the teacher are working to the same agenda.

That is a good idea. However something may happen once or twice a 1/2 term (too many times of course) The lessons learnt last term are soon forgotton.

In the past, I have also punished him severely and when eventually got to the bottom of it, found that it wasn't his fault. I try not to jump in feet first now.

How did you find out that it wasn't his fault?
