not sure if this should go in primary education ... but can anyone recommend a nicely illustrated book with this poem in it (and maybe other poems). I used to love nonsense rhymes and looking at lovely illustrations when I was younger and thought my ds (5) might like me reading these to him (we love old possums book of practical cats too!) ... thanks

I don't know of any specific books sorry! But I can still recite it off by heart, it's one of my favourites :)

DS started getting this one from the library when he was about 5, he has taken it out a few times so he must like it Smile. Our library's copy comes with an audio cd too which he likes listening too while he eats.

My ds got paper back poetry book. Think bought from a cheap bookshop called 'The works'. It has the owl and the pussy cat and other lively poems. Title is 'Higglety pigglety pop! And other first poems. Illustrated by Harry Horse. Published by Walker books Ltd.
If he likes rhythmic stuff try 'Aliens love underpants'. Also books like 'Never eat with a knife and fork'. He will probably like 'the Gruffalo' and similar books... you have probably read these!!

I used to have a lovely poem book called "If you should meet a crocodile" with lots of animal poems in, I'm sure it was in there.

Ian Beck has done The Jumblies as well - DH's absolute favourite to read to DD when she was little.
