Arrrgh,

What can 2 boys dress up as this year?

I am so stuck for ideas and the only thing they have come up with is the hairy bikers!

Superheroes? Not sure if comic books count...

DrSeuss · 19/02/2011 19:49

Last year when DS was in Nursery, I planned a monkey suit and the original version of Curious George, which he loves. No, he had to be Spiderman! So, thinking that on World Book Day, the costume had to relate to a BOOK, I payed extra for Amazon to rush me a Spiderman book, only to discover that his teacher and TA were Bob and Wendy! I think anything that is remotely booky will do so Superheroes are fine.

Pirates?
Charlie from chocolate factory?
James (with a peach)?
A Twit?
Burglar Bill?
Charlie & Marv?

JustKeepSwimming · 19/02/2011 19:51

DS1's favourite book of the moment is Litterbug Doug which has a hero in it called Michael Recycle, so he's going as that.
IF I can find a green shirt to make into a cape & then make him a belt with a big badge.

So if anyone sees a medium green mans shirt cheap anywhere, let me know pretty please :)

We had a superheroes day a while ago. OMG!!! The children actually turned into the superheroes.... they were WILD!!!

Just William
Dennis the Menace
Wally
Knave of hearts / other Alice in Wonderland characters are quite easy - Mad Hatter

Any other characters that wear fairly normal clothes?!

CMOTdibbler · 19/02/2011 20:01

I had an inspired moment, so ds is going as Harry of Harry and the bucketful of dinosaurs. All I need is a blue plastic bucket

stoatsrevenge · 19/02/2011 20:06

....and some dinosaurs.....Grin

CMOTdibbler · 19/02/2011 20:20

Plenty of the little plastic boogers around the house Grin

Sassyfrassy · 19/02/2011 20:28

Thing one and Thing two from the cat in the hat. Red shirts with number one and two on and some blue hair.

DarrellRivers · 19/02/2011 20:32

I like the Harry idea

serin · 19/02/2011 20:54

Where's wally and Dennis the Menace sound great but I fear that lots of others must have had the same idea! From Adam's to Vertbaudet there is not a striped red and white T shirt to be had!

OP posts:
stoatsrevenge · 19/02/2011 21:04

Ach! Get some masking tape out on the red jumper!! That'll do Wally.
A few strips of duck tape will do Dennis!

Littlefish · 19/02/2011 21:06

Dd's class all have to come dressed as a character from "commotion in the ocean"! Last year it was a character from "Percy the park keeper". Bloody animals!

preghead · 19/02/2011 21:07

Serin my ds went as wally last year and I had the same problem, found one in h and m, think they still hve them

CharlieBoo · 19/02/2011 21:16

Oooh oooh just read this....didn't even think of Charlie from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory for my 5 year old ds who is called Charlie ...doh!

OK, so any ideas on the outfit ladies???

Littlefish · 19/02/2011 21:36

Cat in the hat.

serin · 20/02/2011 13:30

Charlie Bucket is easy, just ordinary shirt and jeans scruffed up a bit and a big golden ticket.

Sassyfrassy · 20/02/2011 22:14

Littlefish, I'm a teacher and will be going as the cat in the hat =) Other year 4 teacher will be the goldfish and the teaching assistants thing 1 and thing 2. Will be hilarious I think =)

samels001 · 21/02/2011 00:16

Am I allowed to be grumpy and have DS off sick that day! (I have no imagination and HATE dressing up; even worse when it is for someone else).

Although loving the idea of Charlies golden ticket......

DreamTeamGirl · 21/02/2011 00:16

This year they have gone with Fairy Stories and Nursery Rhymes so DS is going in a slightly too small Prince Caspian outfit from 2 years ago, on the basis that loads of Fairy Tales have knights and princes in.

loueytb3 · 22/02/2011 12:09

My DTs are not even in primary school yet and the bloody nursery have decided in their wisdom to do book day this year. As if I haven't got enough to do. I made the stupid mistake of asking DTs what book they wanted to take in and DS1 wants to take the pied piper of hamelin and DS2 wants to take the gingerbread man Confused. I have no creativity whatsoever - any suggestions for costumes welcome...

starfishmummy · 22/02/2011 12:21

DS went as Bart Simpson last year! T shirt and shorts with his hair spiked up. It was a bit last minute and he's not really a book character (but we do have some books about the simpsons.....)

LittleHarrysMum · 22/02/2011 12:48

I wish we only had to do book characters this year.

We have been asked for 'National Costume' and from having a look we don't have a national costume!! So do you think it would be ok for him to go as a knight? or maybe a beefeater?? Confused

PITA!!!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 22/02/2011 13:13

DS went as Charlie Bucket - normal clothes plus a big golden ticket
then he went as George form George's marvellous medicine - normal clothese plus a lebelled bottle.

crazymum53 · 22/02/2011 13:13

Consider yourself lucky that you have a choice - at my dds school each class has been allocated a different book and has to dress up as a character from that book. Help!
