I thought that levels for year 2 were normally 1 A,B,C 2A,B,C and 3 - our teacher is now referring to a 2.8 - why is this?

Never heard of a 2.8 or anything other than 1c, 1b, 1a, 2c, 2b, 2a, 3 (in ascending order).

It isn't a 2B that's been written to look like an 8 is it

I'm afraid not - it was told to us at parents evening. I thought if I asked what it meant that all our allocated time would go!

Definitely a new one to me then.

Probably best to post on this later when some teachers are around and maybe they can let us know what it is :)

Was it definitely sats levels. Our teachers seem to reel off different numbers / levels/ grades at every parents evening and I have never had a clue what any of them meant.

Last time it was colour coded red, green and orange. Looked pretty anyway Grin

Yes , the teacher said it was her sats levels

Not a clue, unless the school has invented their own system to describe a level - am guessing 2c: 2.1-2.3, 2b: 2.4-2.6, 2a:2.7-2.9

However, they are teacher assessment levels - Y2 assessment does not just rely on tests. Some teachers will still refer to them as SAT levels, but they are definitely not in Y2.

Hi - This refers to Target tracker which is a program used to track the children through the year groups. A lot of schools use this and it allows them to see which children aren't moving. It can't register the letters a,b or c so they use the points.
I can't remember what 2.8 is though - I think a 2A...I think!
It is very confusing!

Thank you Liby - I am also finding it confusing!
