Just wanted to say Thank You to all the teachers on here who constantly provide links to information when other members ask for it.

The same questions get asked over and over again, and yet these posters readily provide the information we ask for.

I also notice they go the extra mile to provide additional information to links, mainly curriculum based when we are confused, or want to know more.

I for one really appreciate all the help you have given me. The source of data you have provided has been invaluable. Thank you once again.

It is infuriating, as a teacher, to read some of the topics on here.

I do sometimes wonder about some parents. Teaching is not that well paid (it's a public sector job- if they could pay us less, they would) and it's generally quite thankless.

The children are lovely, and seeing their progression is what makes it worthwhile, but there are a lot of parents who make the job hell. They are the ones who have unreasonable expectations, and who see themselves as consumers of a service, and teachers as at their disposal.

Yes, we are paid with your taxes (cheers for that, by the way!) but we are also teachers because we care. Many teachers are qualified enough to have much better jobs in the City.

Obviously I can't speak for the whole profession, but it's nice to be appreciated (not personally, but as a role).

Good Lord, I was expecting this to be a sarcastic thread.

I also would like to say thank you to all the teachers who take the time and trouble to respond to matters brought up on here (and for all the other stuff you all do when not on here, obviously).

Thank you.

My mum (retired primary teacher) loved the car sticker that used to be around:

IF YOU CAN READ THIS (large letters)

  • then go thank a teacher! (much smaller letters)
spottydotty88 · 20/02/2011 18:13

:)

EmEyeHi · 20/02/2011 18:21

And what you teachers have done for me is illustrate that my experience of primary school teaching is NOT universal - and this has been invaluable in my times of deepest angst. So, rather gushily, I thank you all too! Blush

PoppetUK · 20/02/2011 18:58

I was just saying to hubby how helpful and supportive it has been for me as a mum. After a year of hitting my head against the wall in another country to arrive back and have wonderful teachers and for this to be carried through here on mumsnet has been made so much difference to us all. Thank you to all the teachers that have offered us advice here on mumsnet x
