It may be of interest to parents in the area to know that a child (Year 1) left ESPS at Christmas and the place is still unfilled.

I've no idea how the school goes about filling the space but I'd be amazed if there isn't a parent out there who would love to know about the vacancy.

Hope it gets filled soon.

Good grief I thought it would have been auctioned off to the highest bidder.

That's what I thought too; maybe it's just the "wrong time" but I assumed parents would be prepared to take their child out of a school that was further down their list of preferences especially if it meant that younger siblings would be guaranteed of a place in future years. Perhaps the school hasn't tried very hard to fill the place.

There's normally a waiting list - maybe there were too many in the class?

There were definitely no "extras" in the class which now totals 29. Maybe it's the local authority's job to fill the place, rather than the school's.

It is the Education Authority's job - I have a friend who is applying for yr 5 in September and she has been told to go through the council by the school

Though the school can call parents who are interested and get them to call the LA. The school used to manage the 'out of reception' waiting lists but it's recently gone back to authority control, which is a pain.
