Would this worry you?

My DS is in reception and has two teachers that job share. One of them is actually maternity cover for another teacher who was there only for the first term. They're both brilliant though and my DS loves them.
We received a letter from school the other day saying that the Reception and year 1 teachers are swapping for the summer term. There was no real explanation given as to why (we'll obviously be asking next week) just that the two current reception teachers had more experience teaching year 1.
This just seemed like a really odd decision to make in the middle of the year, especially for a class that has already had a bit of upheaval in their first year.
Does anyone else have a similar experience? How did the school work it?

Each induviduel involved porbably has real and sensibel resons for this circus, however i would question the compleat lack of consistency for the children concerned.

Could be all sorts of reasons for this. By itself it wouldn't worry me.

What are you worried about exactly

Just think of it as getting ahead! When your son moves up to Yr 1 in September, he will already know the teachers!

That is a little odd, not completely out of the ordinary though. It could be for a whole host of reasons. Just thoughts off the top of my head.

  • personal reason by one of the 4 teacher mentioned (either home or school life stress or pressure)
  • lack of progress in one year group, moving more experienced teacher to boost progress.
  • particularly difficult child or group of children that one teacher does not have the skills to handle.
  • One teacher leaving.

I have started school in the midddle of terms, not just years when i was a long term supply for a variety of reasons, health, stress, wants to leave teaching to be a travel agent!!!

Could be anything. Are there any other clues or oddities happening that could add more to the picture?

I agree with spanieleyes it is to help the class with the move to Y1 which can worry some children.
