Tricky tuition teacher

Wanted to discontinue DS with a tuition teacher, but it seems deposit will not be returned! That too a good sum of #175 ! Apparently, it is non refundable, and it is mentioned in the contract that it will be used as final payment for Dec year6, and DS is still only in Year 4 ! When I checked it was mentioned (as usual in very small letters). First time I'm coming across such a deposit which is for securing a place, but will not be refunded !

Feel quite let down.. This is a 11 plus tuition place but I was expecting that she would target his weak areas (which is English) and do a more targeted work.. but its just another school where something is taught in general. Some exams are given for eg in Creative Writing etc. but nothing to correct them after that, as to how to write better etc. She doesnt like to even show the work to parents. Its all in closed doors and the only feedback we get is that yes, he is good and improving etc.. DS likes going there bcos it is fun, she gives sweeties etc. He seems happy but that is not good enough reason for me to spend #47 a day !

Sad to see so many Year 5 kids enrol there as a last minute resort for securing places.. that too so expensive, and there are about 6-7 children too, sometimes more.

I do not want to mention her name or anything, but if you genuinely want to know, pls PM me, atleast you will know who to avoid ..

175 a month is a lot, esp if it is not 1-2-1. I dont understand how they can get away with not sharing with parents, and charge so much all the same.. Unf good tutors are not easy to find.. I'm looking for one for DS.
