I have just come back from parents evening for DS. On the whole he is doing very well Smile. One area for improvement is Knowledge&Understanding of the World. As I understand it, this has to be initiated by the child and there are several areas to cover before they can earn a mark.

His teacher has said that we can help with this by submitting evidence based on activities or questions at home.

I wanted to make sure I have understood what type of thing can be submitted. For example if DS is asking what Road Signs mean as in Roundabout/30mph/Left-Right turning etc and then understanding why drivers need to be aware and then can recall signs at a later day is this acceptable and does he need to be able to explain it to others if asked?

My goodness is this for real in reception. I've got a 5 year old and would never have thought he was measured on this kind of stuff so young.

So would this be for his EYFS profile?

I'd've thought the teacher would have to witness that he understands the world. Rather than evidence submitted by you.

Does this help?

Evidence from you could be photos, pictures with notes and him being able to share information at news time.

PaisleyLeaf Yes, they are following the EYFS. As far as I can recall, his teacher said that if we noted it in his school book or jotted it in a note, then they would use it as evidence of understanding. There were several areas in 1point.

I'm just hoping I've not completely misunderstood and that someone will be able to clarify.

these are the type of evidence we would look for

Thanks mrz. It makes some sense looking at your link. I'm floored at the level of detail teachers have to go into.
