SATS practice in Y6

My daughter is in Y6 at a small private school.
It is only January but they already started preparing for SATS in maths. Last week they did two practice papers and this week two more. I told my daughter to ask her maths teacher how many papers they are going to do. The teacher said "16 more, two a week".
I feel very annoyed now. I believe that it is wrong to do so many tests, children do not learn anything new, they just revise and do the tests, they think maths is boring.
My daughter says that she does the test in 30 minutes and then has to do nothing for the rest of the lesson (30 min) as she is not allowed to do anything else, even reading.
I am going to talk to the maths teacher next week.
I you think it is wrong to do 20 SATS papers before the exam can you help me to argue this with the maths teacher, please.

Because that isn't a broad, balanced curriculum, it's teaching to the test. Which presumably is what you pay them not to do.
