Are there any particular dates that the sats level 1 have to be sat between ? Are they finished before May half term?

Do you mean key stage one? The tests may be used at any time between Sept and June to provide just one of the sources of evidence which will make up the teacher assessment that will be reported to you. Lots of schools use them in May to support their final judgement.

Yes I mean Key Stage One. We have been told they may sit their written papers in June. Is this normal to be so late?

Yes, as I said, lots of schools choose to work like this - their evidence gathering is so good that they use the test to back up their final judgement. Some LEAs when moderating the judgements refused to take the tests into account to make schools raise their game in assessing accurately - it's not good practice to rely heavily on the results of the tests.

Our assessments have to be with the Local authority by 4 July so the tests could be done any time up to then!
