Does anyone have any information about Sir John Cass primary in the City of London. It has been rated outstanding by Ofsted, but is in an area of high social deprivation with a lot of children speaking English as a second language?

Are the other families all from one culture or is there a good variation? The only reason I ask is that if your child is speaking English as a first languge then it could possibly be isolating if all the other kids are from the same culure and speak the same languge.

If there is a god mixture of different culture's then it shouldn't be an issue.

I know someone who took their son out of the local primary school(v high number of esl) in this area to give him to sir john cass and has been very happy with the result. Before her bright son was just bored and messing about but now he is getting on very well and the education is way better then the local primaries.
I also had a friend in secondary who came from sir john cass primary, she said she enjoyed it there very much and that there is a wide mixture of children, but I am talking about 10-15 years ago.

I would mainly look at what secondary your child will go to from there...it certainly looks amazing...and the kids get great opportunities with music.

sali81, I am hoping to send my child to an independent secondary, but I am not sure if she stands a chance of passing entrance exams, if going to sir john cass primary. How do they manage to get such good results with a class of 30 kids of such divergent needs? How did they manage to stretch & challenge your friend's bright child?? What secondary did your friend attend, and did she go on to uni?

Have you not asked the school these questions? Surely they are in the best porition to answer them?
