Just found head lice on both dc. When your dc get them do you tell school?

Thank you for the clarification! I will have a look for the oils and the comb as well as the ready-made shampoos. One thought about these creatures makes me feel disgusted.

As a teacher, my most memorable story was a year 7 girl who had them literally falling out of her eyebrows...she was wriggling with the little things [shudders]. When the head of year phoned home, the mum said 'yes, I know, I've bought her the shampoo but she won't use it!!'

Classy parenting, that

Lots of anecdotal evidence here, and if you've found something that works for your DC then that's great, obviously, but my understanding was that a big research project found that tea tree oil was not effective as a lice deterrent???? - Think I read it in a journally thing in the waiting room at the doctors a couple of years ago.....

fair point..I agree with that. I am happy to run with it though!

Hi mums - would you be interested in a product that kills both head lice and their eggs. It is 100% natural using essential oils...

Greeninkmama · 18/02/2011 14:37

I do tell the school, yes, and it's silly not to - because then the rest of the kids get your child's lice and pass them back again. I use Hedrin and nitty-gritty comb plus do one more comb-through with conditioner than is recommended. I am going to try Princess's home remedy though - sounds good.

Definitely tell the school, otherwise other parents in the class might not know to be more on the lookout than usual and it will spread.

I have no qualms about telling anyone, your DCs obviously caught them from someone else...unless you're growing your own!? Grin
