Someone I once knew sent her DS there (Y5?), and highly recommended it, and another mate is looking for such a school but CAN I remember its name?

I have a photo of the DS. The V neck jumper is black or navy blue and has a large shield embroidered badge on it, divided into 4 quarters with 2 pale blue-ish segments, a burgundy one and a ?gold one. The tie is yellow and probably black diagonal striped (if not dark blue).

I only think it might be private cos of the tie which isn't usual for junior aged DCs, is it?

Thanks if anyone can help.

Dammit, I was sure it would be Hogwarts :(

Oh well, happy Christmas.

See, my friend's DS has been bullied where he is due to, amongst other things, his dyslexia (privately diagnosed but the school he's at doesn't want to acknowledge it cos they don't want to fund help). The East Sussex friend whose DS was at said school was delighted with it as her DS had very similar issues but she felt this school had been very supportive. But this friend is currently with her DH on a contract in Bolivia and I can't contact her til I get a working email!

Hence the MN call for help.

leeloo1 · 21/12/2010 15:44

Could you look at local uniform supply shops? (might have pics online?)

MassiveKnobOfBrandyButter · 21/12/2010 15:46

google independent schools in east sussex.

BeattieBow · 21/12/2010 15:52

I don't think it is an independent school in Brighton/Hove. I can't think which one it would be anyway.

EdgarAleNPie · 21/12/2010 16:03

from that descrption i have eliminated : dorothy stringer (state, blue v-neck but with white aerex shirt)
varndean (tie yes, blue blazer though)
brighton and hove (girls)
winlesham school (www.windleshamschool.co.uk/ maroon uniform)

and ran out of ideas...

EdgarAleNPie · 21/12/2010 16:05

not shoreham?

LIZS · 21/12/2010 16:10

Are you sure it was year 5 ? Check Cardinal Newman/Cottesmore, St Christophers (but think it is red/grey), the Fold, Windlesham (used to be brown), Deepdene (preprep age), Mowden/Lancing College Prep, Brighton College

ampere · 21/12/2010 16:37

Sorry, couldn't identify from any of them, but blimey, there are some FANTASTIC uniforms out there in Private Land, aren't there?!

OP posts:
sunnydelight · 22/12/2010 04:01

I can't help identify the uniform, but Brighton College has a specialist dyslexia unit which is supposed to be fantastic. It is even more money on top of already huge fees though.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 22/12/2010 04:04

it may not be private - several of the junior schools round here (totally different area from you) have ties now.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 22/12/2010 05:39

could it be \link{http://www.st-andrews.brighton-hove.sch.uk/index.cfm?request=c1147603\this one}??

if you click on the "what does our school loook like" link it's got some photos further down of them in dark blue v neck jumpers, possibly yellow and (?) tie - and the logo kind of fits??

ampere · 22/12/2010 18:42

You are a genius and that is the school!

Thanks!

Xmas Smile glad my insomnia was useful at someone - my there are some hideous uniforms in Brighton and Hove - and some very very poor school websites!!!

ampere · 23/12/2010 11:47

Yes, I suffered eyeball abuse with some, too!
this one caught my eye!

EdgarAleNPie · 23/12/2010 13:33

oh my.

my mum had to wear a hat like that to her school....

CecilyP · 23/12/2010 13:46

It's the width of the stripes on the blazer that make it look a bit chain gang.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 23/12/2010 14:40

actually some of the school websites shocked me more than the uniform. This is 2010 isn't it? (nearly 11) - yet some schools seem completely incapable of putting together even a basic website.

Our local private school doesn't even have smart boards in the classroom...it does however, offer riding lessons Hmm
