What does 1b or 1c mean on a school report

It is for a year one child
It said nothing but reading -1b writing 1c maths 1b Ipc? 1c I think it was Ipc something like that anyway.

What on earth does this mean? There is no explanation on the report and i cant seem to find anything that fits on google. It will drive me mad not knowing until after chirstmas?!

I know that my daughter has struggled to catch up on reading and writing so i would really like to know if 1c and 1b means she is still finding it hard or that she is getting there.

If you google Key Stage I levels you should get more info.

They are national curriculum levels. By the end of year 2 it is expected that most children will be at level 2 so imo 1b and 1c seem ok

They progress like this: 1c - 1b - 1a - 2c - 2b - 2a and so on.

The steps go 1c 1b 1a 2c...Her writing is weaker than her maths and reading which is very normal.
Has the teacher talked with you about what she needs specifically in the way of help?

the levels go like this:

1c, 1b, 1a, 2c, 2b, 2a, 3c

You should expect your child to go up almost a level every term - obviously not all 7 yos will be writing at the age of a 9 yo (level 3) by the time they leave infants, they should be at national average - level 2b.

So if she is 1c/1b after 1 term in year 1, she is on track of where she wants to be. Its all good.

Her writing is something she has been very down about since another little girl in the class made fun of her for "doing big letters" it was no huge issue just a silly comment from what i can tell but for some reason she really took it to heart and we had to go in and see the teacher because she was refusing to write at all at school. She has suddenly just In the last few weeks started to enjoy it ( she was changed to a different group and now sits away from this girl which i think has helped a lot) and so pretty much all the progress she has made had been within the last 3 weeks. She is now trying to teach my 2 year old to write which is a good sign that she is over her fear of writing.

The teacher hasn't really said much about specific helpl my daughter only moved to the school in September so the focus has been more on settling in. The only thing the teacher said was that for some reason when she went there she kept eating the paper she was supposed to be writing on .

At her old school she had extra help with reading but hasn't had that here and actually he reading has improved when she started in septemeber she couldn't read anything now she can read simple sentences.

It sounds as if it's her confidence then, which impacts on her willingness to have a go.
I've often wanted to give a smug child who teases others a slap. Haven't so far.
Keep it fun and low pressure, practise when you can, and she will most likely be fine.
