Hello I'm new to mumsnet but was trying to find out what learning level my yr5 daughter is on as she arrived home today quite disheartened that her writing level had not improved she is working at level 4b could anyone tell me if this is good bad or indifferent her maths level is 5a. Help please very confused mother.

5a in yr 5 is very good. 4b is well above average.

Doesn't sound like her school is doing a very good job of informing her of her results. :(

Phew thanks for that. We have had communication issues as the teacher she has is Italian and has only lived in the uk for a year and is newly qualified and is constantly comparing the two education systems as they are poles apart.

4b is the expected level at the end of Year 6.

If she is a 5a in Maths at Year 5, then you must have had at a few years of other teachers telling you that your dd is very talented at Maths indeed!
