ask him surely!?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 06/12/2010 19:28

he just keeps coming up with the example on the sheet - a car that turns into a submarine.

he is 5.

hmmm. you need my 5 year old, he's always inventing things!

maybe you could ask him some leading questions? "apart from cars... what would you most like to play with?"

tribpot · 06/12/2010 19:34

Ouch. That's quite broad, what are his favourite things to play? My ds (5) loves:

  • Lego
  • Puzzles
  • Computer games
  • Harry Potter his cat - and Harry Potter himself
  • Dinosaurs

Lego dinosaurs? For me I would create a sort of SIMS-for-dinosaurs computer game but I think it's a bit unlikely a 5 year old would come up with that :)

LadyOfTheFlowers · 06/12/2010 19:34

Is your 5 year old still awake by chance? :o Mine wouldn't be if it wasn't for this homework - that I forgot about. Blush Hmm

DH just said it's a bit hard.

sadly not LoF!

what about some kind of robot? he could then decide if it's an animal/vehicle/alien... etc etc

AlphaSchmalpha · 06/12/2010 19:44

a trampoline game with targets you have to jump on and hit with your feet or bum or hands to score points

an electronic goal that does the same point scoring thing

a robot cat that chases a robot mouse

a thing you can hang in the doorway that supports your legs so you can practise handstands

erm .. thassorl.

(disclaimer - these may all already exist! I have no idea about toys for anyone older than 3yo)

oxocube · 06/12/2010 19:50

Seriously, LOF, at 5, they won't be expecting much more than a car that turns into a submarine!! Sounds great.

My 9 year old would probably invent headphones which totally blocked all parental nagging and requests that he tidy his room or do his homework but miraculously restored the ability to hear as soon as the words XBox or chocolate were uttered Hmm Grin

LadyOfTheFlowers · 06/12/2010 19:56

Okay - thanks all.

Reeling your ideas off got him going.

He suddenly has come up with a train torch. a toy train with a big light on the front so he can go in the dark with it.

:)

Ooh, I like that idea. We actually have a giant Lego man torch, but a train torch sounds great!

AlphaSchmalpha · 06/12/2010 20:05

that sounds fantastic. can he go to bed now?! (I have memories of sitting at the kitchen table really really tired and finding the lights all a bit bright, having suddenly remembered urgent homework from my bed)

LadyOfTheFlowers · 07/12/2010 10:43

Yes, he went to bed. :)

I put a note in his school diary that I forgot about his homework and it will be in tomorrow.

We did attempt to get it done, but I didn't realise how late it was, then he wanted to quickly check the rat trap with DH Hmm - boys!!

Thanks again.
