Hi, I've just visited the school (Benedict House) today as I am planning to send my daughter to an independent school from Sept 11 when she starts year 3. Has your daughter been there from reception and do you feel that she will be prepared for a selective school/i.e. 11+ when she leaves, whats her homework workload like? Do they have a decent amount of outings and to where etc? What are they like with sports? I'm a bit concerned that they only have a small playground area. What do you think sets the school apart from the two other independent schools in Sidcup, what made you choose Benedict? I'm looking at Merton Court, West Lodge and Benedict. thanks

Funlanguages · 23/04/2012 15:21

I have visited West Lodge and Benedict House and both seem very good. I am having a hard time to decide which one to send my DS to. Can you give me the reasons why you have chosen one and not the other one?

hello Funlanguages

We now have two children at BH and we love it. We had initially thought to put our daughter in WL but only due to the logistic of 2 x parent evenings, sports day etc decided to put son and daughter together. I do believe both schools are great, each with great headteachers. WL has a very personable one and BH has a very keen and happy one. I am so happy with our choice. I am aware now that both schools have waiting lists for some of the years, so I would recommend you visit them both. Also, try to find out about open days, fetes etc that the schools run, that way you could meet some other mums/dads and also watch how happy the children are (which surely is the main criteria!!).

I'll look out for a new french mum perhaps in September then? :)
