Is this going to be the shortest half-term ever?

ds1's school has their Easter break next year for 14 days from
Thursday 14th - Wednesday 27th April

They'll go back for 1 day on Thursday 28th April.
School will be closed for public holidays on Friday 29th April (Royal Wedding) and Monday 2nd May (Mayday).
Then they'll be in for 2 days Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th May.
The school will be closed again for local elections on Thursday 5th May.
They'll be in again for 1 day on Friday 6th May before having the weekend off.
Term proper gets started on Monday 9th May for a grand total of 3 weeks before they break up again for half term on 27th May.

Only 19 school days in the half term.

Ooh, thank you for reminding me, I'd forgotten the elections as well.
I have a STACK of work to fit in between mid April and late June. The wedding has just scuppered up a load more dates!

I feel a street party coming on...

At my DD's school next year they are having to go in on May Day as Easter is so late! At least now they will get an extra one for the wedding!

Does it matter? As long as the days remain the same (minus one) over the whole year.

It matters because all the stopping and starting is a lot more disruptive than full weeks. Really - 14 days off 1 back at school, then another 4 off? How much is actually going to get done on that one day?

In the grand scheme of life, it really isn;t that disruptive.

For what its worth, I am 41 and still have vivid memories of Charles and Di's wedding! I think its great for kids to see a Royal Wedding! Waving flaggy here too!

Some good stuff could get done on that one day. I wouldn't worry.

can't take holiday with the kids before Easter so am now planning to take a week off after now that I know they will only have a short week with the Royal wedding

I remember watching watching charles and Di on an old Black and white telly in a church whilst on guide camp!!

I am not a huge Royalist or anything but do think positive stories are to be cherished...we get so few!!
