Advice about separating friends please

My dd in Y1 and her friend haven't been allowed to sit together for carpet time etc as they 'chatter'. Her friend has to sit at the front.

Now she has come home saying they are both stars in their nativity and there are 2 groups of stars and they have to be in different groups because of this.

My thing is i feel that this separation may be causing problems between them and they seem to not be as friendly before.
Do i have a word with the teacher and ask for this to be stopped to see if this has had an effect or just let it carry on?

How long do they expect to keep them apart??! Anyone have experience or advice?

I'm sure they still play at playtime together.

I think its fair enough for the teacher to separate them for their own learning and for the good of the class

you can still invite her for tea as well, dont forget

I agree, the teacher has to do what is right for the class as a whole. I'm sure there are plenty of opportunities for them to be together throughout the day, and as cybbo says, you can always invite the friend for tea.

Sooner rather than later
Secondary school had had to separate two girls who were allowed to be v v close all through primary.
BUT they will be back together in Yr 10
so will meet again with their own friends
but year 7 is HARD for both

My ds is a friendship group of four, there are four working groups in his class, one of the group is in each group.

The teacher has commented how well they all work being separated, and how lovely it is as soon as the bell rings, they run to each other, and are as their group of four again.

I have no issue with them being separated, school is for learning and socialising, and by being separated by this they get the best. They make the most of their learning, they have to work with people that they wouldn't choose as their friends, and there is lots of playtime for them to be a gang.

I totally see your points and yes i agree it's not like they are on the carpet for long bouts. Suppose in the long run it will probably give her confidence as i think she leans on this girl maybe too much.

I think i worry cos when she started reception her and her 'best friend' from nursery were put in different classes and it was a bit of a stressful time. She doesn't seem to be complaining too much about it really, it's probably more me! :-/

My DD was seperated from her friend in class one...it was good! They were shockers...don't worry, they will chop and cange a lot for a good few years yet,
