HELP!! Need a WW2 outfit for DS (10)

Hi Does anyone have any ideas PLEASE for my son's WW2 day which is looming in the 1st week of December?? I have been trying to find him some kind of uniform etc., but as he's on the small side, nothing seems to be small enough to fit him, he's more like age 8-9 in clothes rather than nearly 11, which is what he actually is.

I'd like to do something a bit more adventurous than an evacuee if possible, but it's starting to look as though there'll be no other option.. unless anyone knows differently.

Thanks in advance!

TBH there weren't a lot of other clothes around at the time. Grey shorts/shirt/tank top or jumper combo is about it. I work in the field, if you like, and I'm struggling to think of anything else that young boys would have worn then.

have you tried running a few key words through EBAY to see what you might be able to pick up that way?

gasmasklable

what ever he is he will need a gas mask box, so thats a start.

WWIIForum

and this is a forum which might help for ideas.

Or perhaps he could go as a Norwegian resistance fighter with a big fairisle junper and skis?

scout shirt ( if he has one) , long shorts, necker, BIG hat. Gas mask box. scouts ran messages for ARP during WW2.

Khaki boiler suit with ARP arm band and tin hat ( try fancy dress shops) = ARP warden.

Striped pyjamas?? may be too controversial for primary school.
