My sons primary can. His "dance" Pe lessons one year consisted of doing the macarena and cha cha slide copied from YouTube. Thiese were specialist sports coaches running it too!

teachers usually have to download the videos they want to use at home and then transfer them to the school system as youtube itself is usually banned!

AngryPixie · 12/11/2010 17:09

I can access youtube at school, we use lots of good phonics song.

mrz · 12/11/2010 17:20

It's blocked by my LA but you can download videos to a memory stick to use.

Grockle · 12/11/2010 17:26

Youtube is usually filtered. We use Google videos and teachertube, as well as things like National Geographic

emptyshell · 12/11/2010 18:46

Generally it's been blocked. Sometimes they've forgotten to filter google video and you can get stuff that way, normally it's just a case of downloading it at home and putting it onto stick and taking into school.

pozzled · 12/11/2010 18:49

My school has it blocked, although we are looking at restoring access to teacher log-ins only. Have never heard of teachertube- thanks for the tip!

Lara2 · 12/11/2010 22:33

We've just gone to teacher log ins only on YouTube. About time too!

Feenie · 13/11/2010 08:42

We also have teacher log ins only for Youtube.

Kiss Youtube is an easy way to save videos at home to your laptop/memory stick.

MmeOrangeBlackandBlueberry · 13/11/2010 08:46

I use Youtube every day in school. I would be lost if they banned it. I spend hours at home trawling Youtube for perfect clips.

I do use Teachers TV too, but sometimes videos I use one year are not available the next, which is frustrating.

Lydwatt · 13/11/2010 18:35

It was blanket banned by our LA but this has recently been lifted, saving me lots of downloading time!

I find youtube a fab resource

Willmum · 14/11/2010 21:01

Dont suppose anyone here knows if its been lifted by east yorkshire lea?
