What should my Yr3 dd do?

DD aged 8 is in a mixed class of Yr 2/3 and 4s and has been having trouble from a Yr 4 boy who keeps kicking and prodding her when they are sat during carpet times.

Unfortunately, when dd has tried to complain her teacher has generally told her "I don't want to hear any silly tales" even before she has opened her mouthBiscuit

What would be the best way to deal with this problem should it reoccur, as I'm expecting it to as the boy in question has a bit of a reputation as a bully.

I think you need to go in and request your daughter is sat away from this boy. She could also keep a diary of what happens (this kind of thing is useful in bullying cases).

Thanks for replying mummytime, I'm just a little frustrated that dd isn't even getting the chance to voice her complaint. I would rather that it was something that she was able to deal with rather than make a big issue.

Does she get any choice about who she sits next to at carpet time? If she can sit away from him - which might mean waiting till he's seated or even moving that would be the simplest way.

TBH the teacher's attitude is out of line.
