DS is due to start school next Sept, my DD is in Year 1 at our local school. With DD i agonised over school choice and decided to go with our local catchment school, i help out in school alot, became a governor and my DD seems quite happy.

My problem is that i just cannot see DS at this school. The school is fine, teachers lovely but i just have a gut feeling that it is really not for him. I still am not 100%whether it was the right choice for DD, but after an unsettled reception year (change of teachers, not wanting to go to school) she seems to have settled.

I just feel very guilty (as a governor) to be even considering, let alone looking around, another school for DS.

What would you do?? Has anyone done this with seperate schools for DC's? and how does it work logistically?

(p.s all schools have space, local is Satisfactory but improving, other 2 good and outstanding)

I know someone whose DC are (or were) at different schools; I think they are in catchment for school A, got a place at school B for older child, then second child only got a place at catchment school.

Anyway, it was perforce rather than choice. Not sure why she didn't move older child, don't know them that well.

AFAIK from other mums, it's a bit of a logistical nightmare; she has to be in two places at once at 9am and 3.30pm (friends help out I think); school plays if not on at same time mean two afternoons off work; school fairs can clash etc etc.

I wouold personally avoid it unless I were forced into it.
