Can Primary Schools become Acadamies or is it just Secondaries?

Anyone know

Any school with children over 5 can become an academy.

Very few primary schools opted to dons as the financial benefits ( economy of scale) are much less.

oh Im confused as Ive found a list of acadamies in the internet around 300 primaries

As Simbacat says, primary schools can become academies.

Is that a list of academies though, or a list of schools who have expressed interest. Lots of primary schools (including ours) have expressed an interest, but all that actually means is that they are asking for more information to help them decide whether it would be a good thing to do or not. I don't think many have actually made the move.

That will be the list that expressed an interest. Very few went ahead- many that did were federated with secondary schools.

Schools were very annoyed. They thought that they were asking for information but it was taken as an expression of interest and their names published without their knowledge.

I know of one primary school locally that has gone to academy status.
Although it did have an outstanding ofsted it does have a bit of history in terms of pupil numbers and was proposed for shutting a couple of years ago but subsequently kept open.
I presume that this is the main reason for the change, it certainly will not be for any financial incentive. Of course now with its outstanding status it is a popular school but most pupils arrive by car from far afield, there are few pupils who are actually in catchment zone.
