i have an interview tomorrow and have to do a 10 min presentation on 'what must good teachers do to ensure children are effective learners?'. (non electronically)

I have lost my way and feel completely panic stricken now- HELP!

Meet pupils needs
Provide an engaging environment
Use engaging material
Develop pupils thinking skills through use of open questions such as 'Why...'
Challenge pupils ideas about the word
Ask pupils to explain things

Find out where the children are in their understanding before doing anything else!
Use different methods to get the message across.
Find out what interests children, and don't be afraid of occasionally thinking 'outside the box'.
Allowing learners to become teachers.

However, also equipping them with study skills and developing autonomy in their learning - so encouraging use of dictionaries rather than always telling them spellings, teaching editing, checking methods, estimation etc. Anything which helps the child take some responsibility for their learning.
