Boy to girl numbers

Sure this has been done before but wanted some opinions on this. 2 classes in year 2.Mainly boys in both. Out of 17, 7 are girls and in my DD class only 5 out of 15 are girls. I went on a school trip last week and the teachers time was taken up with separating fighting boys the entire time.

I have to say my daughter spends most of her time with the boys as the girls have formed quite tight groups. My DD has the outlook of a boy generally anyway. Does this have a detrimental effect in the classroom? My daughter does have focussing issues already. We have concerns with the school over several issues. Should we move her? Is this a valid concern?

My boys have the opposite problem. There are 14 children in both of their years and in both cases they are one of only 4 boys in each year.

I don't think it is a problem, DS1 tends to hang around with a big group of boys which include ones from the year above. DS2 plays happily with either girls or boys.

Maybe it is more of an issue for girls?

DD is in a class of 16 where there are 11 girls and 5 boys. I wonder what happened to all the boys in our village?

They are all here clearly! I think they have some challenging class room behaviour. I am including my daughter in that! I think its very hard for the girls to make friends generally. The 1 girl my DD does like is probably leaving at the end of term. So then there will 4 girls!

my dd has the smae problem in her year group there are 14 children and only 4 are girls. this year though as year one is split at her school she is in the year 2 class and there are lots of girls in there. 3 out of the 4 grils in her year went up to year 2 and only one stayed witgh reception so i did feel for that little girl as she was the only girl staying down. but there are lots of girls in the new reception class and she seems to be getting on ok.
