I've only just found out by accident that my dd is being taken out of class once a week for Tiger Team PE.

I've been given no information what so ever and have not even been asked for consent (written or verbal) so I'm not best pleased.

Nobody seems to know exactly what it's for or who is doing it. It seems to be an SEN group.

My dd is very active, she's only 5 and has been riding her bike without stabilisers since 4,can ride 4 miles in a stretch, lives on her scooter, swims etc. She's bright and is doing very well but I'm not particularly keen on her missing lit/numeracy if she doesn't need to.

She has no balance problems,is very active, fit and slim so what on earth is it for?

All I've been told is it's for kids who don't like PE Hmm.

I've requested the organiser ring me-so far they haven't.

Personally I don't feel I should be left to surf the net(can find nothing) to find out why my dd is being taken out of class. So before I blow my stack on Monday can anybody shed any light?

Tiger Teams in action

It's a physical programme for children with motor coordination difficulties

mrz many thanks sorry to be a pain but I can't find it in that link. What do I need to click on?

How bizarre she doesn't have motor coordination difficulties.

The only thing I was told aside from the outside agency thing was it's for children who don't like PE,who aren't confident in PE.

Great link mrz....I would not worry at all OP...it seems very helpful and fun stuff...I had poor coordination as a child...of course nobody DID anything in those days so by the time I was 8 or so, I was simply rubbish at sports...which did mend itself very quickly as I grew in confidence...with me it was fear...fear of getting whacked by the ball or falling off the apparatus....by the time I was 13 I was on the county athletics team.

This scheme looks good and it is 6 weeks long...nothing that will disrupt....only help...and you could also find a weekend gymnastics or dance class for your DD whichwill help her confidence.

MilMae you have to watch the whole vid...it's 15 minutes...about half way through the headteacher talks about Tiger teams.

MilaMae · 17/10/2010 20:20

Thanks just watched it,it's an old DVD though so don't know if it's exactly the same thing.

Problem is dd has absolutely no fine or gross motor skills difficulties what so ever.

Her teacher says this too,she was told dd was to be in the group. She's only had her for 6 weeks.

Would soooo help if we'd been give a course introduction sheet and assessment procedures.

I'm still totally confused, will try not to blow my stack but to be frank I'm pissed off. I tracked down the PE co-ordinator last week and she didn't exactly shed a lot of light.I shouldn't need to be doing all this to be frank.

I don't blame you...you should have been told...they don't bloody ownt he kids...they SHOULD tell parents when a new acticity is starting. At ths tiny age they can't relaay information and it is your right to know if DC is getting judged wanting in some area. Let them know the should have told you.
