School Levels in primary school

I have read quite a lot on here about the different levels of attainment i.e. 1B, 2A etc, but I really could do with someone pointing me in the right direction of how to make sense of them.

What are the expected levels at the end of year 1?

What is the difference between the A, B's and C's?

Where can I find out what the children are judged against for the teachers to decide what level the children are at - is there a matrix for this?

many thanks for your help.

My understanding is 1b is average at the end of y1 and 2b is average at the end of yR 2. each numerical level has 3 sublevels c being the lowest and a the highest.

The site is down at the moment, but look for APP assessment levels.
