Moving schools and school applications over summer holiday

Hi,

I know the process changed last Sept, and now all primary school applications have to go through the council.
So....if we move house / area in August and fill in the schools application forms then, do you know if they will be processed and places allocated over the summer break?

Thanks v much

Is your DC going into Reception, or is it an in year application?

You need to talk to the LA concerned. The sooner they know you are moving into the area and will need a place the better. They will be able to tell you what they need from you to prove your new address so that they can deal with your application appropriately.

Ideally they should deal with it during the break but there are no guarantees. I hope they will cope better next year than they did this year, when many admissions teams were in complete chaos. Some LAs may choose to wait until the start of term anyway unless there is a place at your chosen school as many schools find that children leave without letting them know, so they don't know for sure how many children they've got until a week or two into the term.

mimizan - it is an in-year application for our 3 boys (currently reception, year 3 and year 4).

prh47bridge - thank you for your helpful reply. I will check with the LA.
